Sojourn House Joins the Shelter and Support Board Advocacy Coalition
Sojourn House Joins the Shelter and Support Board Advocacy Coalition (SSBAC)
We are proud to announce that Sojourn House has joined the Shelter and Support Board Advocacy Coalition (SSBAC), an initiative dedicated to promoting systemic change and advancing the strategic goals of non-profit shelter and supportive housing organizations in Toronto.
What is the SSBAC?
The SSBAC was established in 2023 by Fred Victor’s Board of Directors and brings together leading organizations, including Fife House, Eva’s, Toronto Shelter Network, and the Ontario Non-Profit Network. It is a collaborative coalition of Board and senior management representatives working to address systemic challenges and strengthen the sector through a unified “Board-led voice.”
Sojourn House’s Role
Sojourn House is represented at the SSBAC by two members of our Board of Directors. We are actively supporting the coalition’s critical work to help shape the future of the sector and advocate for meaningful change.
Why This Matters
The SSBAC’s objectives align closely with our mission at Sojourn House:
- Fair wages and wage parity for shelter staff across agency, municipal, and provincial levels
- Promoting systemic change to strengthen shelter and supportive housing services
- Encouraging collaboration among non-profit organizations to address shared challenges
Moving Forward
By joining the SSBAC, Sojourn House reaffirms its commitment to advocacy, collaboration, and sector-wide improvement. Together with our partners, we aim to advance equity, support staff, and ensure a sustainable future for the shelter and supportive housing sector.
